Apgar Mountains Snowpack Update

Shallower snowpack (~44") as compared to other locations within our forecast area. Weak, sugary facets (1-1.5 mm) sitting below Thanksgiving rain crust. No evidence of 12/17 freezing rain crust. No collapsing or cracking noted during tour and no visible signs of storm slab or persistent slab avalanches from our last avalanche cycle (12/28-29). Surface hoar formation was evident in wind-sheltered locations. ECTN 19 and CT 13 (Q2) in recent storm slab and CT 21 (Q3) in facets below Thanksgiving rain crust. No evidence of newly formed wind slabs in the area we traveled.
