Traveled near Six Mile Peak in the southern Swan Range to evaluate overall snowpack structure along with depth and sensitivity of newly formed storm slabs (12/28). This is our first known observation from this portion of the range this season.
Snowmobiled up Six Mile road till the road ends. Continued on snowmobiles for a bit before riding got difficult due to deep snow and multiple obstacles. We elected to skin the remainder of the way to our pit location on a SE aspect at approx. 6500 ft. We descended along our skin track to the snowmobiles and followed the bread crumbs back to the main highway.
