Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Traveled up to Scalplock Mountain in the Flathead Range, GNP.  Found surface hoar of various sizes on most aspects above 5000 feet.  

We found depth hoar on NE and SE aspects with other layers of facets also within the snowpack.  Stability tests did not indicate any of these layers were sensitive, but the structure of the snowpack is definitely concerning when we get additional loading on it.

More detailed information about the weather: 

Temps cool in Essex in the am but warmed to the freezing mark.  Top of inversion about 5000 feet and temps were much milder above that. 

Little wind at our location, but could see strong South winds on the peaks to the south.
