Hiked and skinned to a max elevation of 6000' to revisit the vicinity of the 4/14 pit (snowpack tab) and see if there were any late season turns to be had. Snow was wet and slushy below 4800' but a 2-5cm fragile surface crust made up travel pretty quick from 4800 to 6000'. There was constant cracking under foot but no shooting cracks. Time spent in the pit scratching my head was plenty of time for the warming temps and intermittent high angle sun to eliminate the crust and begin to merge with the moist snow below. The descent around 1:00 was essentially traverse, kick turn, repeat. Rollerballs were initiated in isloated spots. Some minor sliding of the snow in areas with a shallow slick crust occurred on slopes approaching 35 degrees.
