Went for a nice walk with friends seeking sheltered terrain with some success. Snow started light in the morning on the skin up in a drainage, but the solar effect quickly kicked in once we reached open terrain. The top few inches of snow moistened, but we saw few rollerballs.
Our first runs were on an East face. After an ECT20N, failing on the new/old snow interface about 10cm down at ~7000k, we felt comfortable skiing steeper terrain one at a time.
Winds picked up later in the day and the moist snow started to refreeze, leaving a thin zipper crust or skin on the east facing runs.
We also skied a NW aspect and found much more wind effect with variable conditions through the upper and into mid elevations.
