Toured up to 7200' in the Northern Whitefish Range. There was 3-4 inches of new snow when we arrived and about 6 when we left. Winds were minimal with no significant wind loading. Snow was uncohesive and we felt comfortable skiing avalanche terrain on aspects with a crust below the new snow. We did get a little bit of sluffing off our skintrack on steep terrain (see picture). If the new snow doubled, loose dry avalanches would have been a concern. Overall great skiing and happy winter has returned.
