Searched for corn today and found it: on southerly slopes below 5400'. Also found good skiing on sun-softened supportable crust on SE facing slopes between 6200' and 5200' around the noon hour. Looked for glide crack on Big Slide, but none obvious right now. Most of the "Big" part of Big Slide had gone through a loose wet avalance/rollerball/pinwheel cycle, probably on 2/12. These slides involved the top 4-6 inches of snow and the bed surface was a 1-2 inch thick crust. D1-1.5. Toured to N-facing slopes to see and feel the window-pane breakable surface rain crust for myself. Did not dig into or ski any northerly slopes. Found the rain crust on all but the most sunny aspects on slopes above 5000'. Though it was not widespread in the areas I traveled in, I did find openings near 6000' that had 5-10mm surface hoar on the surface that had only partially been destroyed by the sun and warm temps. Observed glide crack in vicinty of Auntie 'Em on a SE facing path above Canyon Creek Snowmobile Trail. Descent on SW facing slopes around 3:00pm did not produce any rollerballs. Temps above 6000' remained below freezing until about 2:00pm. A band of high clouds filtered the sun's heat until late afternoon, when skies cleared. Winds were calm or light all day.
