Ski toured up in Essex area, north west facing slopes. Dug pit at 6200, Ectn9 - 25 cms: density change within new snow, Ectn18 45 cm crust/ new snow interface, PST no results on crust. In open terrain at higher elevations wind slabs from 2 inch- 8 inch deep especially on convex roll overs, shooting cracks on uptrack. Some of these broke loose in isolated pockets in more open terrain while skiing down around 30-35 degree slopes. This seemed to be the main avalanche hazard of the day and could be dangerous in higher consequnce terrain or open alpine terrain. Skiing was better in wind sheltered lower elevations. Observed recent avalanche on SE slope higher up in the drainage. Consistent cold winds, and gusty, light snowfall (1-3)
