Corn o'clock was around 11:00 am today in the vicinity of this mid-elevation SE-facing slope east of WMR. A glide crack had opened within the last few days. Another area (wavy blue circle in pic) had that glide-induced rumpled look, but I could not see a crack. No pics today, but I attached one from a tour on the opposing ridge last week, when no cracks were visible. The main Big Slide path was wall-to-wall with several-day old D1 loose, wet slides, none of which had reached the creek. Similar debris piles existed on the opposing W-facing path, except one of these dated from yesterday. It had released below a rocky cliff band. No rollerballs or wet, loose activity observed during this a.m. tour. Shady areas near and above 6000' had that epic 5mm breakable ice crust with 1cm of faceting snow on top, and facets below also. In some openings this was capped by 5mm of surface hoar, which was intact, at least before noon. Skins slid backwards easily on this combo, and future storm snow may not stick to it either.
