Toured up to a knob on the northern end of Broken Leg mountain to look at the snowpack and enjoy the abundant snow. Did not find anything that stood out as unstable on the skin up and dug a quick pit at ~5700ft. The melt freeze crust from a month ago was still there about 65cm off the bottom and above that just great snow. There was an interesting CT3 at 120cm from the bottom that was a mystery to me. A clean fracture between two blocks super low density snow. Stuck to low angle terrain (25-30 degrees) on a WSW aspect because of the lurking persistent weak layers being reported. Still nice and cold but a definite warming trend and the snow beginning to get moist in the afternoon at the 3400' trailhead. OVC and calm wind with light S1 snow. The cloud deck was fluctuated around 5600 feet and within the clouds a little rime beginning to form on the southt side of the trees. No crust whatsoever forming on the snow surface.
