Toured up to 7400' to work on the Garden Wall weather station. Left the Sun Road at about 5000', walking in 4-6" wet snow. Put skis on a few hundred feet up and snowpack quickly deepens to 1-3' above 6000'. No avalanche activity observed and no signs of instability on our route. Ski quality ranged from poor to hazardous with breakable surface crust above 6500' and a thin snowpack consisting of heavy, wet snow below that elevation. Weather began nice, but strong winds and precip arrived around mid-day making for some raw and wet conditions. Rain line was around 6500.'
