Tranquilo, no. Refrescante, si.

On our afternoon tour, we encountered stormy weather, strong winds, and more new and recent snow than expected.

• 24-hour snowfall ranged from about 2" of moist-wet snow at highway level to 8-10" of dry snow at mid elevations. Snow depths vary a little depending on exposure to wind, with a few patches where winds have coured away any new snow above the crust. Snow continued until late afternoon, S-1 to S5 during squalls. much of today's snow was graupel or heavily rimed crystals. 
• Winds were strong and gusty until mid afternoon, though we were gifted a few intervals of quiet before then. 
• The storm snow was a little upside down, with today's ~4" of snow denser than what fell last night. Despite this difference, we observed only a few short (<1m) cracks and the interface did not propagate in a large column test (ECT11, image).
• The storm snow from last night and today is sitting on a few inches of snow from Sunday that in turn sits on a melt-freeze crust (3/6). This interface also did not propagate in large column tests (ECTN19, image), and we could not get any failure at or below the 3/6 crust.
• Skin tracks and ski cuts on short, steep slopes (up to 40*) did not produce any cracking or small slides in the new and recent snow above the 3/6 crust.
• In open areas above about 5800 feet, the strong winds had stiffened the recent snow and it felt markedly slabbier. 
• By late afternoon, the snow below about 5000 feet was moist or wet, and turns on steeper slopes readily produced rollerballs. We saw a few natural rollerballs below about 4500 feet. 

With the combination of intense snowfall rates and wind-stiffened snow, we turned back from our objective. We found shelted glades where the skiing on the crust was a distant memory except on very hard turns across the fallline. Definitely a refresh.
