We were worried about the outbreak of the “Corniced-19/20 virus," so we went to Swan with low expectations for our ski tour.
The observed wind transport was limited to a fine dust that otherwise would have been locked down by crust.
We didn’t see signs of instability that occurred today. Cornices were intact and a little filled in. We stayed away from being over or under them.
Unsurprisingly, the skiing was tough with the wide distribution of frozen rollerballs.
Overall, we had 1 or 2 good ski turns on a north-facing slope that held a pocket of wind-transported snow.
Despite the parking lot being packed, we saw no other parties skiing. Given the late spring conditions and low tide, we guessed that folks were hiking rather than skiing.
Tour up switchback trail. Skiied along the ridge and dropped down to camp misery.
