Buried but not dead and gone

Ducked outside Whitefish Mountain Resort boundary to do quick wellness check on 11/23 surface hoar and its faceted and crusty friends

• In my very limited travel, no obvious signs of instability. No cracking or collapsing.
• 15-20cm recent snow, rimed and graupeled but not slabby
• The usual suspects appeared in my quick profile: 12/2(?) rime crust, 11/23 surface hoar, 11/19 facets and crusts
• All are on their best behavior, for now - no propagation in 2 large column tests, most small column tests produced breaks at/ near these layers. 
• 11/23 surface hoar laye on probation. Not convinced it's reformed. sudden failure on this layer in 1 of 2 small column tests. A sharp whack on large columns after ECTs produced propagation, and it blocks slid off easily.
