Quick Observation
Traveld up to Skiumah Lake today.
Cool temps at the Trailhead made easier skinning conditions minus the snowshoers layup during a warmer day.
Once at the lake we noticed large destructive damage on SE facing slopes above the lake bringing trees and dirt piles to the lake shore.
We climbed up and skied the large North facing chute to the ridge below Penrose summit.
The surface was suppotable and smooth. We observed older crowns on the NE facing flanks up to 2 feet deep.
There was minimal greenhouse effect on the N facing slope we climbed, no roller balls.
There was up to 12 inches of new from last weeks storms at higher elevations (>6000) and it was bonded well to older surfaces, minimalwind effect all the way to ridgeline.
Holding on to what we got!
