Windy on Doris Ridge

We rode into the Alpha Lake/Doris Ridge area today.

• We were at the Doris Lake Trailhead before the winds really started and found great riding in 12 inches of light new snow.  Around noon the winds picked up from the SW and after that all but the most sheltered of slopes were experiencing high wind affect.  
• We dug a pit at 6200 ft on an E slope and found stable snow, with the 2/2 crust buried 150 cm.  We performed a Propagation Saw Test and found the facets above the 2/2 crust are still weak(PST END 70/150).
• We found extensive wind loading on the NE slopes and were able to intentionally trigger a wind-slab approx 100 wide and 6 inches deep simply by whacking the snow surface with a shovel blade.  Shooting cracks under our skis were apparent throughout the rest of the afternoon.
