Cascade to Rescue

We made a quick trip into the Cascade and Rescue Creek areas of the Flathead Range.

• Happy to report that there is still up to 10" of settled powder in areas not affected by the recent NE wind event.
• Sad to report that a 1" sun crust has formed on south and southwest aspects with slope angles >25 degrees between 4600' - 6200'.
• Wind affected snow from the recent NE wind event was obvious and easy for us to avoid during our southerly descent.
• 1 wind slab avalanche from the NE wind event was noted on Nyack Mt.
• Isolated cracking was the only instability noted today.
