Toured up Fern Creek from the Camas Road. Skied E aspect. 6-10" of unconsolidated snow in most locations.
We experienced no cracking or collapsing. Good visibilty but we saw no signs of recent avalanche activity on any aspect.
There were eroded cornices on both sides of the N-S ridge. We tested several slopes near the ridge looking for wind slabs, but found none.
We dug a pit at 5600' on an east-facing, gladed slope. Total snow depth was 220 cm. 1/4" thick (Groundhog?) crust 70 cm down.
