Skyland Persistent Slab problem

We rode into the Skyland area for our first visit of the season.

• Between 5000' - 6000' Sunday's storm left 8-10" of low-density snow unaffected by the recent east winds.
• Persistent slab structure was noted in snowpits at 5400' and 6000'. Propagation occurred with easy to moderate force.
• Recent avalanche activity was confined to several soft slabs in the recent snow at upper elevations and loose dry sluffs at mid and upper elevations. Resulting debris was D1.5 in size.
• Upper elevations looked to be affected by recent east and west winds.
• The snowpack at mid-elevations remains shallow ~ 40-50"
